Michael Embry was born in Kentucky and graduated from Eastern High School in Louisville and Eastern Kentucky University. Among his "hometowns" are Louisville, Leitchfield, Lexington, Richmond, Jeffersontown, Campbellsville, Madisonville, Morehead, and Hopkinsville. He also attended Taylor County and Hopkinsville high schools and Morehead State University and the University of Louisville. Embry is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, spending most of his time at Whiteman AFB in Missouri. Embry is the author of eight books--three nonfiction sports books and five novels. He worked for Kentucky newspapers in Madisonville and Lexington and a national news service, making stops in Louisville, New York, Milwaukee and Lexington. He retired as editor of Kentucky Monthly magazine in Frankfort in 2006. Embry embarked on new career path in 2009 when he joined the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security as Community/State Communications Coordinator. Embry is listed in the 2011 edition of Who's Who in America. Embry and his wife, Mary, live in Frankfort, Kentucky. They have two sons, Justin and Sean, two daughters-in-law, Melissa (Justin's wife) and Catie (Sean's wife), and two granddaughters, Lily Sofia and Lola Grace (from Justin and Melissa). And they have a Yorkshire Terrier--Baxter. Bucky left us on Oct. 19, 2011, as he crossed the Rainbow Bridge for a new home in Dog Heaven. Lily Sofia
